China-Europe Railway Express offers a balanced shipping solution of cost-efficiency and transit time. It takes up to 40% less time than ocean freight and is less affected by the weather.

If you need a shipping solution that is faster than rail freight and sea freight, and costs less than air freight, trucking is ideal for you. We support FTL and LTL.

How Long Do Door-to-Door Shipments From China to Denmark Take?
The transit time covers pickup from China, export customs clearance, shipping from border to border, import customs clearance in Denmark, and last-mile delivery.
The table below is for a quick reference. In practice, transit time is influenced by several factors.
For example, in sea freight, it is affected by ship schedules, bad weather, and the port the cargo goes through (the main ports used are Aarhus in Denmark or Hamburg in Germany as a transfer point).
| China to Denmark Door-to-Door Transit Times (2026) | |||
| Shipping Mode | Cargo Type | Copenhagen (Capital / Hub) | Aarhus / Mainland (Central) |
| International Express | Commercial Cargo / Containers | 3–5 Days | 4–6 Days |
| Air Freight to Airport | Airport-to-Airport Cargo | 2–5 Days | 3–6 Days |
| Air Freight Door-to-Door | DDP Commercial Cargo | 7–12 Days | 8–13 Days |
| Truck Transportation | Cross-Border Truck Cargo | 22–30 Days | 28-38 Days |
| Railway Transportation | General Cargo / Containers | 30–35 Days | 32–37 Days |
| Sea Freight | FCL / LCL Cargo | 42-60 Days | 38–58 Days |
Truck transportation may be affected by geopolitical factors.
Is Insurance Necessary for My Shipment in China-Denmark Transit?
The insurance is not legally mandatory, but it is highly essential.
According to marine law, if any sea emergency happens, you’ll need to split the high financial loss with other cargo owners to get your goods back safely. For example, when a shipfire happens, and the captain must sacrifice some cargo to save the ship, you must share the lost cargo value with all the other cargo owners.
If you bought insurance, the insurer will pay for this bill (General Average). If you have no insurance, your goods will be legally held in port until you pay thousands of dollars yourself.
What Factors Should Be Noted in Customs Clearance in Denmark?
Import Duties and VAT
When your cargo arrives in Denmark, except for import duties, you need to pay VAT. The import duties vary by cargo type, and the VAT is at 25%.
VAT is 25% of CIF value (Cost of Goods + Insurance + Freight).
In DFH Logistic, if you select the DDP solution, the VAT and import duties are included in the quote. We follow the Danish regulations strictly and will never use fraudulent classifications to reduce costs.
(For Amazon sellers, if your goods are stored in other European countries, such as Germany, the VAT rate will follow that country‘s regulations. For example, the VAT rate in Germany is 19%.)
EORI Number and VAT Registration
They are required for Customs Clearance.
The EORI number is the customs code that is used across all European Union countries. Importers must register for this number if they import B2B goods.
VAT is necessary for handling the 25% import tax and ensuring lawful business accounting within Denmark.
CE Marking
Denmark is strict on the safety of products, especially for Electronics, toys, home appliances, and industrial equipment. When these goods enter Denmark, the packaging and products must have clear CE markings. And they must provide a valid Declaration of Conformity.
ICS2 Compliance
Since June 2024, ICS2 version 3 has been required in EU countries. The complete data must be submitted before loading in China. In the past, the cargo description could simply be listed as clothing, electronics, machine parts, and general cargo. But today, the customs system will reject it automatically. The description should be as precise as possible, for example, “lithium-ion laptop batteries.”
