Reliable DDU Shipping Forwarder in China

DFH Logistics focuses on transparent Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) shipping service for global importers. We handle the entire logistics chain in China and leave the import duty and tax management to your in-house team.

DFH Logistics consolidates split orders into a single Bill of Lading for DDU shipments. In this way, we minimize your destination document fees. With secured carrier space for standard, oversized, and battery cargo, we ensure stable shipment and deliver your goods to your doorstep smoothly.

DFH Logistics calculates the most cost-effective routing options for our clients based on live carrier rates. Tell us your destination and cargo details for a transparent DDU quotation today.

Pickup and Supplier Consolidation
Pickup and Supplier Consolidation

We pick up your goods directly from multiple supplier locations in China. Instead of shipping them separately, we consolidate all your goods in our warehouse and ship them as either FCL or LCL. In this method, all your cargo is consolidated under a single Bill of Lading, reducing destination documentation and customs entry fees significantly.

Who Is Responsible for Customs Clearance and Duty Payments Under a DDU/DAP Shipment?Who Is Responsible for Customs Clearance and Duty Payments Under a DDU_DAP Shipment

Under DDU/DAP, you (or your appointed local customs broker) will handle import customs clearance and pay for the local customs duty (and VAT).

We will handle the entire process of the logistics chain, including pickup from factories in China, export customs clearance, international transport, and destination port handling. After the customs release is granted, we will arrange our local truck fleet to complete the final-mile delivery.

What Happens if There Is a Delay During Customs Clearance in My Country? Who Pays the Demurrage?

Under official Incoterms, the responsibilities are all on the buyers when the delay is caused by missing buyer documentation, random customs exams, or delayed duty payments. This is because under DDU shipping, the buyer is responsible for import compliance.

DFH Logistics will not just leave you to the customs-related handling.  Our team will proactively send you all the required shipping documents (including Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, and Packing List). We will send you 7 to 10 days before your vessel reaches the port. This will give your broker sufficient time to pre-file the customs entry and minimize the risk of any port storage or demurrage charges.

What’s the Difference Between DDU and DAP? Are They the Same?

Yes, they are essentially the same.

DDU was replaced by DAP under Incoterms 2010. But in practice, the international logistics industry still uses DDU as a convention, except in formal documents like contracts.

The main difference is that DAP explicitly states that unloading at the destination is the buyer’s responsibility, while this has long been an industry practice under DDU.

For daily arrangements, you can simply use DDU as a convention. DFH Logistics uses DAP only when signing official formal contracts to meet standard documentary requirements.

Why Should I Choose DDU Over DDP Shipping From China?

There are two major advantages that make DDU popular in established, legally compliant businesses:

  • Tax Deduction and Recovery

Under DDU shipping, you can use your own business entity (such as your own Bond/EIN in the US or EORI in Europe) in customs clearance. In this way, you can obtain the official customs tax receipts. The receipts allow your accounting team to deduct or reclaim the import VAT fully.

  • Lower and More Transparent Costs

The DDP quote usually includes a risk premium to cover fluctuating tax rates. The DDU quote doesn’t have the risk premium. It offers you the rock-bottom transparent transit rates. You can pay the exact customs duties directly to your government.

Are There Any Hidden Destination Terminal Fees (Like DTHC) With Your DDU Service? Are There Any Hidden Destination Terminal Fees (Like DTHC) With Your DDU Service

No. We assure you there is no hidden fee at all.

We deeply understand that the hidden fees in the destination port are the most common concerns of international importers. Because some destination agents may impose unexpected local charges in traditional CIF shipping. (DFH Logistics also supports the CIF shipping mode, and we guarantee 100% transparent rate in CIF.)

Our DDU quotes are completely transparent and all-inclusive. All the Destination Terminal Handling Charges (DTHC), document fees, and handling costs are included in our initial quote. The only thing you need to pay separately is the actual customs duty
(and VAT) to your local government.

Can I Use My Own Customs Broker, but Use Your Local Trucks for the Final-Mile Delivery?

Yes. This is one of the most efficient ways to use our DDU service.

We will coordinate with your designated customs broker smoothly and hand over the arrival notice (AN) and delivery order (DO) to them to initiate clearance. Once your customs broker updates the cargo status as Customs Cleared, our local truck fleet will head to the port to pick up your cargo and send it to your destination, following your schedule.

If My Cargo Gets Damaged During Transit, Whose Insurance Covers It Under DDU?

Under DDU (DAP) terms, only when your cargo arrives at your designated delivery address (before unloading), the risk of loss and damage transfers from the seller to the buyer. This means during the whole process of international ocean/air voyage, the risk remains with the seller until the cargo reaches the agreed delivery location.

To eliminate the risk, we highly recommend you purchase cargo insurance. We leverage significant insurance discounts through our high shipment volume. The all-risk insurance covers the entire process from departing the factory in China to arrival at your doorstep.
