LCL shipping is suitable for smaller furniture shipments that do not require a full container. Your cargo shares container space with other shipments and is usually charged based on volume.

20GP, 40GP and 40HQ containers are suitable for larger furniture orders. We can help select the appropriate container size based on your total CBM, furniture dimensions and loading requirements.

Air freight is suitable for smaller, high-value or urgent furniture shipments when faster delivery is more important than transportation cost.

We can collect furniture directly from factories and suppliers in major sourcing areas such as Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Ningbo, then arrange the next stage of shipment.

If the original packaging is not strong enough, our warehouse team can arrange additional cushioning, palletizing, wooden frames or custom wooden crates to better protect the furniture before international shipping.

We can help coordinate customs clearance and review the key documents required for your destination, including any applicable ISPM 15 packaging requirements.

We work with local delivery partners in different destinations to arrange final delivery for bulky, heavy or delicate furniture. Suitable trucks and handling equipment can be arranged where required for delivery to your warehouse, store or agreed address.

We can arrange cargo insurance for eligible furniture shipments to provide additional protection against covered loss or damage during international transportation.

How Long Does Furniture Shipping from China Take?

| China to Europe | ~30–50 days | ~6–14 days | Rail ~25–35 days / Truck ~20–30 days |

For furniture projects with a fixed installation, store opening or handover date, it is better to plan shipping before production is completed. Share your cargo-ready date and required delivery date with us, and we can help compare the available shipping options.
LCL or FCL: Which Is Better for Furniture Shipping?
Both can work, but the right choice depends mainly on total volume, furniture type and how frequently you ship.
Fewer shared handling stages can also make FCL attractive for delicate or irregular furniture.
| Comparison | LCL | FCL |
| Cargo Volume | Small to medium | Medium to large |
| Container Space | Shared | Dedicated |
| Handling | More handling stages | Usually fewer |
| Loading Flexibility | Limited | Greater |
| Best For | Smaller orders | Large or mixed furniture orders |
You can share your total CBM with us, and we can help compare the available LCL and FCL arrangements before you book.
How Should Furniture Be Packed for International Shipping?
Furniture packaging should protect the product while avoiding unnecessary volume. The appropriate method depends on the material, structure and risk of damage.
Sofas and Upholstered Furniture
Sofas and upholstered furniture benefit from protective wrapping and moisture-resistant packaging to help prevent stains, dust and surface damage during transportation. Strong outer packaging can provide additional protection during handling.
Case example
Our warehouse team kept the original protective wrapping on the sofas and added reinforced wooden frames around the outside to reduce movement, pressure and impact during international transportation.

Tables, Chairs and Cabinets
Table legs, chair frames, cabinet corners and exposed edges are vulnerable to scratches and impact. Corner protectors, cushioning and reinforced cartons can help protect these areas throughout the shipping process.
Glass Furniture
Glass tables, display cabinets and other glass furniture require sufficient internal cushioning and rigid outer packaging to reduce movement and absorb impacts. Separating glass panels from other components can also help prevent scratches and breakage.
Marble and Stone Furniture
Marble and stone furniture is heavy and can crack or chip if improperly supported. Reinforced wooden crates or suitable rigid packaging can help distribute the load and protect vulnerable edges during transportation.
Case example
For a marble coffee table shipment, our warehouse team packed the table frames and marble tops separately. We reinforced the frames with wooden supports, secured each marble top in a wooden frame, and then placed all the tops together in a custom-made wooden crate for additional protection during shipping.

Flat-Pack Furniture
Flat-pack furniture should have its panels, fittings and hardware secured separately inside the packaging to prevent movement. Compact packing can also reduce the overall shipment volume and help control freight costs.
Case example
Our warehouse team stacked the flat-packed furniture cartons on pallets, wrapped them with stretch film, and secured them with packing straps to keep the cargo stable during handling and international transportation.

High-Value Furniture
Designer furniture and products made from delicate or premium materials may require customized packaging based on their dimensions, surface finish and structural design. Additional cushioning and protective layers can help reduce the risk of scratches and other handling damage.
If the supplier’s original packaging is not strong enough, the goods can be sent to our Shenzhen warehouse first. Our warehouse team can inspect the packaging and arrange suitable repacking or reinforcement where needed.
Documents Are Needed to Ship Furniture from China
The exact requirements depend on the destination country and furniture materials, but most commercial furniture shipments require several basic documents.
| Document / Information | Typical Purpose |
| Commercial Invoice | Shows buyer, seller, product description, quantity and declared value |
| Packing List | Shows packages, dimensions, weights and cargo details |
| HS Code | Used for customs classification and duty assessment |
| Country of Origin Information | Supports customs declaration requirements |
| Importer Details | Identifies the party responsible for the import |
| Bill of Lading or Air Waybill | Transportation document for the international shipment |
| Product-Specific Documents | May be needed depending on material and destination regulations |
Product descriptions should be specific. Instead of simply writing “furniture,” customs documentation should identify products more clearly, such as wooden dining tables, upholstered sofas or metal office chairs.
Additional documents may apply to products containing regulated wood, electrical components, lighting, batteries or other controlled materials.
If you are unsure which documents apply to your furniture shipment, send us your product details and destination country, and we can help review the key shipping and customs documents before dispatch.
Do Wooden Furniture and Wooden Crates Need ISPM 15 Treatment?
ISPM 15 mainly applies to regulated raw-wood packaging material used in international trade, such as pallets, crates and dunnage. It should not automatically be treated as a rule covering every wooden furniture product itself.
Solid-wood packaging used to protect furniture may therefore need approved treatment and the required IPPC marking where ISPM 15 applies. Packaging made from processed wood materials such as plywood can fall outside the standard’s regulated raw-wood packaging scope.
The furniture itself may still be subject to separate destination-country requirements depending on the wood species, product type or importing country.
For more information, you can refer to the International Plant Protection Convention’s ISPM 15 guidance.
If you prefer not to manage these packaging requirements yourself, contact us before shipping, and we can help review the planned furniture packaging and transportation arrangement.

Where to Buy Furniture Online From China?
China has several major online sourcing platforms where international buyers can find sofas, tables, chairs, cabinets, bedroom furniture and other products from factories and trading companies.
| Platform | Best For | What to Know |
| Alibaba | International B2B sourcing | Export-oriented suppliers, easier communication and convenient comparison of MOQs, prices and specifications |
| 1688 | Competitive domestic sourcing | Large supplier base and often lower prices, but many sellers mainly serve the Chinese market |
| Made-in-China.com | Manufacturers and commercial furniture | Useful for comparing factories, product categories and export-ready suppliers |
| Global Sources | Established exporters and larger orders | Suitable for buyers looking for experienced manufacturers and commercial sourcing |
| Taobao / Tmall | Small orders and individual furniture pieces | Wide product selection, but overseas buyers may need help with purchasing, consolidation and international shipping |
Before ordering, confirm the furniture dimensions, materials, MOQ, packing method, production time and Incoterms with the supplier. For bulky furniture, packed dimensions are especially important because they directly affect the total CBM and shipping cost.
If you purchase from several suppliers, the furniture can be sent to our warehouse for receiving, consolidation, inspection and packing reinforcement before international transportation.
If you have already found furniture suppliers in China, send us the supplier locations, product list and destination country, and we can help arrange pickup, consolidation and international shipping.
FAQ About Furniture Shipping from China
Can I Ship Assembled Furniture from China?
Yes. Assembled furniture can be shipped from China, but it usually occupies more space than flat-packed furniture and may increase the shipping cost. Large assembled pieces should also be checked for doorway access, loading dimensions and suitable protection before transportation.
Should I Buy Cargo Insurance for Furniture Shipping?
Cargo insurance is recommended for valuable, fragile or large furniture shipments. We have long-term cooperation with Ping An Insurance and CPIC, and the insurance rate for eligible shipments can be as low as 0.05% of the insured value. For fragile goods, a 5% deductible on the insured loss may apply depending on the policy terms.
What Happens If Furniture Is Damaged During Shipping?
The cargo condition should be checked as soon as possible after delivery. If damage is found, keep the packaging, take clear photos and record the condition before disposing of anything, especially when an insurance claim or carrier investigation may be required.
Can I Ship Furniture Samples Before Placing a Large Order?
Yes. Samples, chairs, small tables or individual furniture pieces can be shipped before a larger purchase. Air freight or express may be suitable for smaller urgent samples, while sea freight can be considered for larger or heavier pieces.
Can Furniture from Different Chinese Cities Be Shipped Together?
Yes. Furniture from suppliers in different cities can be collected and brought together before international shipping. This can be useful for buyers sourcing from furniture factories in places such as Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Ningbo or other manufacturing areas.
Can I Ship Furniture for Hotels, Apartments or Commercial Projects?
Yes. Project furniture can be shipped in batches based on production progress, installation schedules and destination requirements. For larger projects, preparing a detailed furniture list and delivery plan early can make the transportation easier to coordinate.
Can You Help If My Supplier Has Never Exported Furniture Before?
Yes. A supplier without much export experience may need additional coordination for cargo information, packing, pickup and shipping documents. Contact us with the supplier and product details, and we can help review the shipping preparation before the goods leave the factory.
